Silverfort alternative: two different shapes of identity security

Silverfort and Cydenti both work on identity security, but they are built differently. If you are comparing Silverfort competitors for SaaS non-human identities, this page sets out the public facts so you can decide which fits, or whether you need both.

Silverfort describes itself as an identity security platform built on Runtime Access Protection. It integrates with Active Directory, cloud identity providers, SaaS, legacy systems and OT, and enforces access inline: allow, challenge or block. [1]

Cydenti is an independent, Paris-based platform for non-human identity (NHI) security. It connects to Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Google Workspace and Salesforce through read-only APIs, with no agent. It finds service accounts, OAuth apps and tokens, scores their risk, watches their behaviour, and removes excessive or unused rights automatically, following the policies you set.

When Silverfort fits

  • You need MFA on legacy apps, command-line tools or OT systems. [1]
  • You run Active Directory and want identity protection there. [1]
  • You want inline enforcement that blocks or challenges access at runtime. [1]
  • You want one vendor across many identity areas: ITDR, ISPM, NHI security, AI agent security, privileged access security, an authentication firewall and universal MFA. [1]

When Cydenti fits

  • Your main concern is non-human identities in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Google Workspace or Salesforce.
  • You want read-only, agentless discovery that stays out of the authentication path.
  • You need data hosted in Europe: Hetzner Germany by default, OVHcloud or Scaleway on request.
  • You want published pricing and a free assessment before you buy.
  • You prefer an independent European vendor.

Using both together

This doesn't have to be a replacement decision. One possible split: Silverfort on Active Directory and legacy authentication; Cydenti on OAuth apps and service accounts in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Salesforce. Because Cydenti stays out of the authentication path, it can complement inline enforcement. Cydenti also works alongside your IAM, IGA, PAM and SIEM tools; it is not a vault.

FAQ

What are the main Silverfort alternatives?

It depends on the job. For inline authentication protection across AD and legacy systems, look at other runtime identity protection tools. For non-human identity posture and detection in SaaS, look at NHI security platforms such as Cydenti.

Is Cydenti a direct replacement for Silverfort?

Not in every case. Cydenti does not provide MFA or inline blocking for Active Directory, legacy apps or OT. It is an alternative when your main need is NHI security in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Google Workspace and Salesforce.

How does Cydenti detect identity threats?

Its ITDR uses behavioural baselines and detections aligned with MITRE ATT&CK. Risk scoring and blast radius analysis show what to fix first.

Can Cydenti see AI agents?

It sees the service accounts and OAuth apps that agents or MCP servers use, when they are visible in the three connected apps. Dedicated AI-agent and MCP views are in preview. Cydenti is not an MCP gateway.

Does Cydenti help with NIS2 or DORA?

Its findings support NIS2, ReCyF, DORA and ISO 27001 reviews. Cydenti does not certify compliance.
